Different Generations and Health Care

In a recent study, Gordian Health Solutions found that health care information is not immune to differences between the generation gaps.

Gordian Health Solutions, a personal national health coaching group, found that there are different preferences in different generations as to how people access their health care information. The study also found that different generations react to health care coaching programs in a different way.

The study by Gordian Health Solutions also found that:

  • Generation Y-ers, who were born between the years 1979 and 1999, look for health care information mostly because of curiosity. Impatient Generation Y-ers also desire validation and positive feedback. The Generation Y generation believes that health coaching should be fun, simple to use, and accessible twenty-four hours, every day of the week.

  • Generation X-ers, who were born between the years 1965 and 1976, tend to trust the current community of health care overall. Communicating constantly on mobile phones, they like their health care information fun, interactive, and readily available.

  • Baby Boomers, who were born between the years 1946 and 1964, are mostly cautious of onsite physicians and nurses because of privacy reasons. Baby Boomers do value health content found online.

  • Seniors, those who are age 65 and older, enjoy connecting to the Internet, but tend to be concerned that the health information found online is not accurate. Some studies have found that many seniors spend even more time on the Internet than other generations, including teenagers.

Gordian Health Solutions is located in Nashville, TN and provides interactive individualized programs that reduce the cost and demand of health care by encouraging and educating people about living healthy.
