What are Medical discount plans?

They are exactly what they sound like, plans that only offer discounts on services from providers. The company offering the plan has negotiated some discounts from the providers (doctors, hospitals, pharmacy, etc.) and has either pre-negotiated discounts or the identification card tells the provider to expect a call to arrange giving the member help to get discounts at time of service. If you look closely the wording is "UP TO 70% off" - however it is usually misquoted and people believe that has 70% off on all procedures. These plans usually have a very high application fee (between $75 and $150) and are not refundable. Everyone qualifies for this plan. No benefits what so ever!
